Literature Text

You are not anything your impressions incline
You are composed of nothing
Nothing but your own pulsing mechanism

Your outer fittings of similar hue, your stained, laughable cloaks
They give false notions
For the colors and stitchings that conceal your sincerity
Do never define anything but your pitiful origin

Your only honest shades are those rarely revealed
Unless, through crisis, your crimsons are drawn
By a relentless conflict between outside and in
One that surrenders the best of your worst

Now let your tone be revealed
Stand with your skin as pale as the swift white river
Until your fabric of false distinctions
Is left to rot in jealous dusts

Nothing but your bare pigments
Your flushed and boundless strands
And your unbridled growth
Define what lively promise you possess

And, at last, what of your face?
Oh, that face
Once you have all of your superficials stripped of you
It is something you may claim as truly genuine
Beware the double meaning. Don't take it as literal as it may sound the first time.
